Taking a break from my whining (for now, anyway)...
In some news that I think is awesome, three bands that I dig loads are up for the UK's Mercury Prize -- Belle and Sebastian for "Dear Catastrophe Waitress", The Streets for "A Grand Don't Come For Free" and Franz Ferdinand for "Franz Ferdinand". Personally, while the new B&S was really good, and you can pretend that disco never died with FF, The Streets... gawdamn, what an amazing album. The album is number one in the UK, and the latest single, "Dry Your Eyes" is top of the pops, as they say. So, here's to hoping that Skinner takes the prize this time 'round. Of course, all the bands are winners, just for making the shortlist. Just like the Special Olympics. Comments by: YACCS |
