K -- I am opposed to the death penalty in any and all circumstances. I won't go into my reasons, as they're contradictory and dumb, but I'm against it.
I'f you've been following the news, you'll recall that the UK arrested one Abu Hamza Al-Masri. He's a terrorist, wildly anti-West, and should be punished for his crimes. He's wanted in America, the UK, and Yemen. He won't be extradited to Yemen, because he will be executed for his crimes there. The UK signed onto the International Human Rights Act, which forbids the extradition of criminals to contries that will execute them. (I don't belive in human rights either, but that's a whole 'nother thing. Human rights? No. Human dignity? Yes. Human respect? Yes.) So, Al-Masri is going to be extradited to the US. What does John Ashcroft do? Holds a press conference and says that the charges of hostage-taking could carry the death penalty in the US. Bravo, good sir. Bra-fucking-vo. See, it's shit like that that makes me want to give up on the news entirely. Unless it's a story about a dog adopting a monkey in Inda. That was awesome. Or dudes sending a model rocket into space.
