So, if you're reading this blog, you must be thinking, "Man, this RawkStah is one tough cat. He's quoting OpIvy in his title, linking to Rollins Band, giving props to Rancid and RFTC... Yeah, so he's also a fan of They Might Be Giants, but, that show Malcom in the Middle is good, and The Daily Show is hella good. This is a cat that I don't want to be messing around with."
So, what do I do to keep up the illusion that I'm a tough guy? Do I join a Mötörhead cover band? Do I start an East Coast hardcore punk band? No. I buy the new Belle and Sebastian album. B&S is a pussy band. Listened to by pussies. I am, in fact, something of a pussy for listening to them. And I'm OK with that. I like the lush orchestrations, the Donovan-esque melodies, the melancholy lyrics, the lines like "He had a stroke at the age of 24. It could have been a brilliant career." and "You may as well take it in the guts -- it can't get worse than this." So, call me a pussy. Tell me that Stuart Murdoch's voice is annoying, like the clerk at Homer's. Say "It's ok, but it's not my thing." I listen to B&S with pride, fuckers. All y'all can kiss me sharries.
